Orthotics for Golfers Put You in Top Form

Golfers, the Third Annual Jimmy Huger Scholarship Golf Tournament is coming up on April 19 at the Daytona Beach Golf Club, with a shot gun start at 8:30 a.m. Register by April 11 and you can compete for prizes and raise scholarship money for high school seniors starting college this fall. Whatever your skill level, you may wonder if orthotics for golfers could increase your comfort on the course—or even benefit your swing.

Your feet are the basis of your game. You need correct support for all the walking you do, but also as a basis for a strong swing. Walking 18 holes can do a number on your feet if you don’t have good cushioning and support for heel-to-toe movement. For your swing, though, you also need side-to-side support. Your weight shifts from your right heel in the backswing to your left heel at the downswing, and balances on your right toe and outer left foot with the follow through. Those movements require different support than just walking.

Not all golf shoes are created equal and neither are feet. That’s why many golfers use custom orthotics for golfers, designed by a podiatrist who understands golf bio-mechanics. These devices can address arch or pronation issues that lead to tired, achy feet or injuries. At the same time, they can give you support where you need it to get the best golf swing, balance, and accuracy in your game.
