Podiatry Assistant:

The Office Assistant performs direct patient care, assisting the Physician; including procedures and treatments under the supervision and direction of the Physician.  Job responsibilities include: performing assigned clinical duties, demonstrates a professional caring image, at all times maintaining Patient confidentiality.  Adheres to the Office Policy and Procedures, practicing only within scope of education, training and/or experience.  Must have reliable transportation for travel between offices.

Education, Skills and experience:

  1. High School Graduate.
  2. Clear English communications skills, written and oral.
  3. Ability to provide care as evidenced by schooling or experience for patients as assigned.
  4. Must have Department of Health Division of Medical Quality Assurance License Number for Certified Podiatric X-ray Assistant or received within 1 year of employment.
  5. Certified Podiatry Assistant preferred
  6. Must be able to travel between offices.
  7. Accurate filing, typing and computer skills.

Primary Functions:

  1. Performs direct patient care procedures as defined by the Office.
  2. Brings patients back to exam rooms, obtaining history, vitals etc.
  3. Documents accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
  4. Assists Physicians.
  5. Performs Patient assessments.
  6. Provide basic clinical foot care after assessment by the Physician, including nail cutting; applying dressings; providing foot health education, foot wear advice, injections and foot hygiene.
  7. Properly fits patients for Diabetic Shoes.
  8. Casts patients for custom Orthotics.
  9. Calls in Prescriptions and documenting in the patient records as directed by the Physician.
  10. Establishes priority of patient care.
  11. Performs X-rays and developing of x-rays as ordered by the Physician.
  12. Performs clerical duties as assigned.
  13. Schedules physician Surgeries with appropriate facility and keeping records.
  14. Verifying Insurance for pre-ops
  15. Obtains all Lab, X-rays, Pharmacy and any records needed for patient care.  Properly documenting in the EMR all Labs and other tests.
  16. Intervenes with patient concerns to satisfy the best interests of the patient and directs them to the appropriate person.
  17. Sterilizes equipment
  18. Stocks and Orders Supplies as needed.
  19. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality.
  20. As directed will orient new employees to ensure competency of employee within their probationary period.
  21. Attends educational programs/in-services to enhance job performance and knowledge of professional status.
  22. Identifies, intervenes, documents and reports risk management issues.
  23. Adheres to safety and hazardous materials policies.
  24. Willingly accepts assignments in other areas of the office as necessary.
  25. Keeps Office E-mail up and checks for new messages during the day.
  26. Assists with office responsibilities.
  27. Attends Mandatory Monthly Staff meetings at the Daytona Office (7:30am)

Secondary Functions:

Performs other job related duties as directed by the Physician or Office Manager.

Performance Standards

  • Must comply with all work rules including, but not limited to, the Office attendance policy.
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of the worker or others.

Working Conditions

  • Travel
  • Requires bending, standing, reaching and walking for periods of eight hours or longer.  
  • Pleasant personality with ability to stay calm in an emergency.
  • Fine motor skills.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling required of 50 pounds or greater.

 

Podiatric Office Specialist   POS / Front Receptionist

The Podiatric Office Specialist Job responsibilities include but not limited: Customer Service, Answering the phones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, charge and payment entry and filing.  Employee must be able to demonstrate a professional caring image, at all times maintaining member confidentiality.  Adheres to the Office Policy and Procedures, practicing only within scope of education, training and/or experience.

Education, Skills and experience:

  1. High School Graduate.
  2. Outstanding Customer Service Skills
  3. Computer knowledge
  4. ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred
  5. Clear English communications skills, written and oral.
  6. Accurate filing, typing and computer skills.
  7. Must be able to travel between offices.
  8. Team Player

Primary Functions:

  1. Work as a Team Player
  2. Excellent Customer Service
  3. Answering phones taking messages without error.
  4. Making appointments with the appropriate physician schedule.
  5. Greeting patients.
  6. Update Patient info in the Electronic Medical Record, correctly identifying insurance, scanning insurance and photo id’s.
  7. Calls patients to confirm appointments
  8. Retrieve all faxes, pull charts for same and disperse
  9. Scanning dictation and other data in the patient chart.
  10. Charge and payment entry at the time patient checks out and Hospital/Surgery Charge entry, ensure all co pays and past due balances are collected.
  11. Calls and verifies Insurance Coverage.
  12. Assists with referrals to Insurance Companies when needed.
  13. Assists when needed to complete lab forms and readies specimen for Pick up.
  14. Completes records request.
  15. Retrieves mail and properly distributes
  16. Completes end of day closing.
  17. Inventories and prepares office supply order
  18. Ensures that all shoes and Orthotics are scheduled for dispensing and follows up on all not dispensed within a 1 week time bases.
  19. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality.
  20. Keeps Office E-mail up and checks for new messages during the day.
  21. As directed will orient new employees to ensure competency of employee.
  22. Attends educational programs/in-services to enhance job performance and knowledge of professional status.
  23. Identifies, intervenes, documents and reports risk management issues.
  24. Adheres to safety and hazardous materials policies.
