Podiatry Assistant / Medical Assistant:

The Podiatry Assistant performs direct patient care, assisting the Physician. This includes procedures and treatments under the supervision and direction of the Physician. Job responsibilities include: performing assigned clinical duties, demonstrating a professional caring image at all times, and maintaining patient confidentiality. Adheres to the Office Policy and Procedures, practicing only within scope of education, training and/or experience. Must have reliable transportation for travel between offices.

Education, Skills and experience:

  1. High School Graduate.
  2. Clear English communications skills, written and oral.
  3. Accurate filing, typing and computer skills.
  4. Ability to provide care as evidenced by schooling or experience for patients as assigned.
  5. Must have medical certification or degree (MA, CMA, RMA, PMAC, etc.)
  6. Certified Podiatry Assistant preferred.
  7. Must have Department of Health Division of Medical Quality Assurance License for Certified Podiatric X-ray Assistant or receive one within 1 year of employment.
  8. Must be able to travel between offices.

Primary Functions:

  1. Performs direct patient care procedures as defined by the Office.
  2. Brings patients back to exam rooms, obtains history, vitals, etc.
  3. Documents information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  4. Assists Physicians.
  5. Performs patient assessments.
  6. Provides basic clinical foot care after assessment by the Physician, including nail cutting, applying dressings, providing foot health education, foot wear advice, injections, and foot hygiene.
  7. Properly fits patients for diabetic shoes.
  8. Casts patients for custom orthotics.
  9. Calls in prescriptions and documenting in the patient records as directed by the Physician.
  10. Establishes priority of patient care.
  11. Performs X-rays and developing of x-rays as ordered by the Physician.
  12. Performs clerical duties as assigned.
  13. Communicates with Surgical coordinator to schedules physician Surgeries with appropriate facility and keeping records.
  14. Prepares documents and assisting physician for pre-op appointments.
  15. Obtains all labs, x-rays, pharmacy and any records needed for patient care.
  16. Properly documents in the EMR all labs and other tests.
  17. Intervenes with patient concerns to satisfy the best interests of the patient and directs them to the appropriate person.
  18. Sterilizes equipment.
  19. Stocks and orders supplies as needed.
  20. Maintains patient/employee confidentiality.
  21. As directed will orient new employees to ensure competency of employee within their probationary period.
  22. Attends educational programs/in-services to enhance job performance and knowledge of professional status.
  23. Identifies, intervenes, documents and reports risk management issues.
  24. Adheres to safety and hazardous materials policies.
  25. Willingly accepts assignments in other areas of the office as necessary.
  26. Keeps office email up and checks for new messages during the day.
  27. Assists with office responsibilities.
  28. Attends Mandatory Monthly Staff meetings at the Daytona Office (7:30am)

Secondary Functions:

  1. Performs other job related duties as directed by the Physician or Office Manager.

Performance Standards:

  1. Must comply with all work rules including, but not limited to, the Office attendance policy.
  2. Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of the worker or others.

Working Conditions:

  1. Travel
  2. Requires bending, standing, reaching and walking for periods of eight hours or longer.

 


 

Podiatric Office Specialist / Front Office Assistant

The Podiatric Office Specialist Job responsibilities include, but not limited to: customer service, answering the phones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, charge and payment entry.  Employee must be able to demonstrate a professional caring image at all times, maintaining member confidentiality.  Adheres to the Office Policy and Procedures, practicing only within scope of education, training and/or experience.

Education, Skills and experience:

  1. High School Graduate.
  2. Outstanding Customer Service Skills.
  3. Accurate filing, typing and computer skills.
  4. ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
  5. Clear English communications skills, written and oral.
  6. Accurate filing, typing and computer skills.
  7. Must be able to travel between offices.
  8. Team Player.

Primary Functions:

  1. Greeting patients.
  2. Working as a Team Player.
  3. Excellent Customer Service.
  4. Answering phones and taking messages without error.
  5. Making appointments with the appropriate Physician.
  6. Calling patients to confirm appointments and/or reschedule.
  7. Updating patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), correctly identifying insurance, scanning insurance and photo IDs.
  8. Calling and verifying insurance coverage.
  9. Ensuring all co-pays and past due balances are collected.
  10. Assisting with referrals when needed.
  11. Retrieving all faxes.
  12. Scanning dictation and other data in the patient chart.
  13. Charge and payment entry at the time patient checks out and Hospital/Surgery charge entry.
  14. Completing end of day closing.
  15. Completing records requests.
  16. Retrieving mail and properly distributing it.
  17. Checking inventories and preparing office supply orders.
  18. Assisting to complete lab forms and readying specimen for pick up when needed.
  19. Ensuring that all shoes and orthotics are scheduled for dispensing, and following up on all not dispensed within a week.
  20. Maintaining patient/employee confidentiality.
  21. Keeping office email up and checking for new messages during the day.
  22. Orienting new employees to ensure competency, as directed.
  23. Attending educational programs/in-services to enhance job performance and knowledge of professional status.
  24. Identifying, intervening, documenting and reporting risk management issues.
  25. Adhering to safety and hazardous materials policies.
  26. Willingly accepting assignments in other areas of the office as necessary.
  27. Assisting with office responsibilities.
  28. Offering and assisting other employees to ensure the office works together in the best interest of the patients.
  29. Attending Mandatory Staff Meetings located at the Daytona Office (7:30am).

Secondary Functions:

Performs other job related duties as directed by the Physician or Office Manager.

  • Lifting, pushing, and pulling required of 50 pounds or greater.
